This person from Colorado in the United States sadly had to part ways with their Mercedes-Benz C300, so they tried an EV for the first time, only to form a new loyalty to electric cars.
In fact, they were so satisfied with their purchase that they said: “I’m never going back.”
It wasn’t just one thing that made them say that, though – the user posted a one-year review over 1,000 words long.
The gas-powered versus electric car debate is primarily rooted in personal preference, but this case certainly stands out.
Car owner switched from a Mercedes-Benz C300 to a Ford Fusion
Reddit user u/GamingGalore64 shared their story in a comprehensive ownership review on the r/electricvehicles subreddit.
It all started when the user totaled their Mercedes-Benz C300 and decided to give the electric side of vehicles a fair chance to see what it was about.
At first, the user bought a 2020 Ford Fusion, but its tenure was short-lived because their dad took it after he also totaled a Mercury Grand Marquis – which inspired a car in GTA VI, by the way.

After that, they decided to trade the Mercury for an electric car because Colorado offers $6,000 for gas cars when buying an electric car.
After months of research, a new Hyundai Ioniq 6 SE arrived in their garage, instantly hitting the spot.
The Reddit user has now owned it for a year and says it is by far the nicest car they’ve ever owned.
So, what exactly was so special that made it better than the good-ol’ Mercedes-Benz?
What they loved about the Hyundai Ioniq 6 SE EV
For starters, the user got a $6,000 discount by trading in their dad’s old Mercury.
Next, they said the Hyundai is overall cheaper to drive than the old Mercedes and only costs $8 per full charge at home.
To top it all off, they also got two years’ worth of free charging at Electrify America charging stations in the US.
As peculiar as this situation may be, the user is certainly onto something here.
A recent study found that owning an electric car is significantly cheaper than a gas-powered one in all but two American states.
Although that’s a pretty solid deal to save some cash, not everyone cares about the costs.
Another recent study stated that more than 40% of US electric buyers want to go back to combustion engines.
Case in point — whether you want to drive a Mercedes-Benz or an all-electric, it all depends on what you prefer.
Automakers, however, are slightly pulling back from their all-electric plans and still investing in combustion engines.
Take Mercedes, for example, which said it’s choosing to invest in ‘high-tech combustion‘ over total EV future.
