Shaquille O’Neal has so many cars in his collection that he needs a system to help him decide which one to drive on a given day.

The retired basketball player has made no secret of his love for cars – even if he struggles to get his 7’1″ frame into them sometimes.

But with so many to choose from, he’s had to devise a method to decide on his daily drivers.

It’s unconventional, but so is owning a ton of supercars, to be fair.

How Shaquille O’Neal chooses his cars on a daily basis

For a big celebrity like Shaq, there’s a lot to goes into accumulating a car collection.

First, there’s the matter of buying the car – which he sometimes does thanks to other stars like LeBron James.

Then he needs to adjust them to fit him.

And there comes the most difficult stage of all – deciding which one to drive that day.

Given that he’s previously admitted he doesn’t know why he has 40 cars, it could prove to be a bit of a head-scratcher.

Fortunately, the 53-year-old has a system worked out.

Appearing on The Big Podcast, he explained his…unique methodology.

“I treat them like girlfriends. So, my police car girlfriend, I haven’t seen her in a while, so I’ll probably take her on a date tonight.

“When I’m leaving tomorrow for a week, so I’ll probably take my favorite girlfriend out tonight,” he explained.

We’re not sure we’ve heard anyone liken their car to a girlfriend before.

But if it helps him decide what to drive, then who are we to judge?

The question was then posed: which was his favorite girlfriend?

For Shaq, the answer was clear – his Ram TRX, made by Apocalypse Manufacturing.

It’s not just Shaq who has a ton of cars to choose from.

James Harden is another basketballer with an impressive collection.

Then there’s the late Val Kilmer with his muscle cars, and Jerry Seinfeld with his Porsches.

Whether or not these famous people used the ‘girlfriend system’ to choose their cars, we can’t say for sure.
