Apple is quietly teaming up with some of the biggest names in the App Store to get the Siri update ready for iOS 26.

Powered by Apple Intelligence and App Intents, the upgrade promises to make Siri smarter, faster, and more useful inside the apps people use every day.

Uber, YouTube, WhatsApp, and other major platforms are already building features for it.

With a launch expected next year, the changes could redefine how Siri works on the iPhone.

Big names already preparing for Siri update

The Siri update will expand App Intents, which Apple has used to link apps with features such as Shortcuts and Spotlight.

This expansion will allow Siri to complete more actions inside apps without the need for users to open them manually.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is working with teams from Uber, AllTrails, Threads, Temu, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp to prepare early support for the Siri update.

Internal testing has also included a number of games, showing that the company is aiming for a broad range of capabilities.

Developers will have only a short lead time before the Siri update appears in the iOS 26 developer beta.

Apple’s own apps are being updated in parallel, and its developer documentation confirms that personal context understanding, onscreen awareness, and multi-step in-app actions will be added over time.

The choice to combine new AI models with existing Siri components has increased the complexity of development.

Originally scheduled for spring 2025, the Siri update is now expected in spring 2026.

Apple Intelligence set to reshape Siri in iOS 26

Apple Intelligence will be the foundation of the Siri update, powering improvements in natural language understanding, contextual awareness, and the ability to complete more complex requests.

Together with App Intents, this will allow Siri to operate more effectively inside compatible apps and across devices running iOS 26.

Bringing in high-profile developers early ensures that the Siri update will deliver useful features at launch.

The approach also positions Siri to compete more directly with other voice assistants, including Amazon’s Alexa, which has encountered challenges with similar AI enhancements.

If the Siri update rolls out alongside iOS 26, it will mark one of the most significant changes to Apple’s software in years.

With Apple Intelligence and App Intents built in, the update is set to provide faster, more reliable, and better connected assistance when it arrives in 2026.
