This high schooler from St Louis wanted a Hemi Mopar after graduating – but the car she ended up with lasted her 55 years.

Margaret was the daughter of a famed mechanic in the local area and had a keen interest in all things motor-related.

After wishing for a Hemi Mopar, the car that she actually chose as her gift after graduating was entirely different.

However, the impressive ride ended up lasting the gearhead 55 years and 91,000 miles.

When graduating from high school, every teen’s dream present is a car. But this woman certainly hit above and beyond the jackpot.

Usual high-schooler daily drivers consist of a humble Toyota or Ford, such as a Prius or a Focus. However, some others have higher wishes.

Margaret Gasperi Kloecker was the daughter of a popular mechanic and, as a result, had a big passion for cars.

So, when it came to wishing for her gift for graduating, she had something with a specific engine in mind, a Hemi Mopar.

When the time came to receive her new set of wheels, though, she was gifted something else. And that something ended up lasting her over five decades.

Her brand-new wheels were on a 1970 Dodge Charger in ‘Plum Crazy’, with an impressive drive train and a host of added features.

She chose it with her parents at Coronet Dodge as something her 18-year-old self could handle after graduating.

Youtuber The Story Behind The Car got to tour the Dodge Charger muscle car. And they were simply amazed at the condition it was in after 55 years and 91,000 miles on the clock.

“Well, it sounds good and it goes fast,” said Margaret, when asked what her favorite thing about her beloved Dodge was.

The $4,221 car included air conditioning and a Torqueflite transmission, impressive, right?

Well, years later, the top is still the original, and the inside is still in mint condition, with the original Charger 500 window sticker still visible, too.

Amazingly, after driving the specially ordered car for decades, it was still in pretty good shape.

The only modifications were a new layer of paint, thanks to driving wear and tear, and she’d also replaced the Holley carb with a Carter.

Take a look below at Margaret’s gem of a graduation present, and hey, try not to get too jealous of her mint Dodge Charger.
