Rumors are swirling that a new Ram 1500 TRX pickup truck could be on the cards, after being removed from the lineup in 2024.
The high-performance pickup went into production in 2020 and was one of the most powerful of its kind on the market.
But Stellantis ditched the TRX in 2024 as it couldn’t be modified to meet tougher emission standards.
However, now Stellantis’s CEO has dropped a seriously large hint that it could be making a return.

Is a new Ram 1500 TRX on the way?
The Ram 1500 TRX was launched as a competitor to the Ford F-150 Raptor, with Stellantis branding it the ‘most powerful mass-produced pickup in its class’.
But fans of the beefed-up Ram were left disappointed when it was dropped from the line after 2024.

However, there’s been speculation that the Ram 1500 TRX could be revived for months, bolstered by Ram announcing ‘big things are on the horizon’ back in May.
Now, Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa has added further fuel to the fire by all but confirming its return.
Speaking during a recent earnings call, Filosa said ‘the V8 engine on versions such as the RAM 1500 TRX will deliver to us additional volumes but also accredited margins per unit’.
As far as statements go, it doesn’t get much clearer than that.
Stellantis has not confirmed the rumors, but it did say Filosa’s comment stands.
Of course, with no official confirmation, there’s also no timeline, but it’s been rumored that a new Ram 1500 TRX could be included in the lineup for the 2026 model year.
According to Mopar Insiders, production could begin as soon as January 2026.
Until we do get official confirmation, it’s also unclear what powertrain a new TRX might have, but it’s been widely suggested that it could offer a bit more power than the 702 horsepower V8 that was in the original.
Ram has recently brought SRT back from the dead
The news of a new Ram 1500 TRX comes just weeks after Stellantis announced it was bringing back its Street and Racing Technologies (SRT) department.

Beloved by gearheads for more than two decades, the SRT badge graced some of the carmaker’s most impressive cars, including the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, the Challenger SRT Demon.
SRT was officially axed in 2021, but now it’s set to make a very welcome return.
“We’re getting the band back together,” Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis said.
“SRT is another box we needed to check as we head into a product launch cadence, enabling more performance than we’ve ever seen before. We’re working with our product development and technology organization to select the best engineers in powertrain and vehicle dynamics to build a team worthy of the SRT name.”
