These two tennis stars broke a rally record while strapped to moving Lexus SUVs, setting a pair of Guinness World Records in the process.
Jamie Murray and Laura Robson stood on custom platforms mounted to the roof of Lexus NX SUVs and completed 101 consecutive rallies while travelling at a peak speed of 29 mph.
The attempt was carried out by stunt drivers and monitored by officials from Guinness.
Some pretty epic footage from the event has since been released, and you can watch it in the video above.

How the rally record was set and verified
The attempt used two Lexus NX SUVs, each fitted with a custom-built aluminium platform anchored to the vehicle’s existing roof rack mounting points.
Jamie Murray and Laura Robson, the two tennis stars involved in the stunt, were strapped in using four-point harnesses.
Professional stunt drivers operated the vehicles in synchronised formation, maintaining a fixed speed and distance to enable continuous rally play.
The record was achieved after several trial runs, with 101 successful shots exchanged between the two moving players.

The peak speed recorded during the attempt was 29 mph.
For Guinness World Records to confirm the result, the ball had to remain in uninterrupted motion and the players had to stay within the marked platform zones throughout the exchange.
The distance between vehicles was controlled by radio communication between drivers, and no exterior wind protection or mechanical aids were used to stabilise the rally.
According to Lexus, the event was conducted under closed-course conditions with a dedicated safety team on-site.

The aluminium platforms were designed to absorb minimal vibration and maintain balance while the SUVs remained in motion.
Ball control, driver pacing, and platform stability were all factors monitored across the multiple attempts made before the final run.
Both tennis stars remained on their platforms for the full duration of each attempt.
Robson described the experience as ‘surreal’, while Murray called it the ‘most unusual challenge’ he had participated in.
Guinness verified both the ‘longest tennis rally on two moving cars’ and the ‘fastest speed achieved during a tennis rally on two moving cars’ following the completion of the run.
Why the Lexus NX SUV was used
The use of Lexus SUVs in the attempt placed the NX model in a setting that required precision, consistency, and control at speed.
No drivetrain or performance upgrades were made to the vehicles involved.
The only modifications were structural, limited to the addition of roof platforms and harnessing systems.
This type of stunt is not new for Lexus.

In 1989, the company released an advertisement showing a pyramid of champagne flutes balanced on the hood of a car as it accelerated, intended to highlight the engine’s smoothness and the vehicle’s ride quality.
The recent rally record follows a different format but continues that theme of mechanical control under pressure.
It also coincides with the timing of the Wimbledon games.
