A sprawling Toyota facility in Princeton, Indiana, builds some of the carmaker’s most popular vehicles, and is the only place outside of Japan where the Lexus TX is made.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana, or TMMI for short, first opened in 1996.
The super-sized plant covers around 4.5 million square feet and employs more than 7,000 people.
Initially, TMMI was tasked with building the Toyota Tundra, but today it builds several models and is the only place outside of Japan to produce the Lexus TX.

The Toyota facility in Indiana builds Highlanders and the Lexus TX
Toyota Motor Corporation is headquartered in Toyota City, Aichi, Japan, but has manufacturing plants dotted around the world, including in the UK, Australia, France, Brazil, as well as the US, Canada, and Mexico.
Among its US factories is the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana’s facility, which is split into two plants: the West Plant, which is the original part, and the newer East Plant.

When newly opened, TMMI began to produce the Toyota Tundra, but in 2008 production moved to the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas.
Similarly, the plant was responsible for building the Sequioa between 2000 and 2021, when it also moved to Texas.
However, there are several popular cars still rolling off production lines at the facility.
TMMI currently produces the Toyota Sienna, the Highlander, the Highlander Grand, and the Lexus TX.
YouTubers Car Confections recently took a tour of the Toyota facility and were left impressed by the sheer size of the plant and the efficiency at which it operates.
Human employees work alongside robots, covering every aspect of the build, from creating parts, right through to the finished vehicle.
Alongside that, quality control checks are carried out throughout the entire process to ensure that each car produced is spot-on.

For the Lexus TX, there are additional checks to make sure that its final condition is good enough to bear the Lexus badge.
The carmaker recently opened up an EV battery plant in the US
Earlier this year, Toyota opened the doors of its brand-new EV battery facility in Liberty, North Carolina.
The Japanese carmaker poured a reported $13.9 billion into the plant, making a bold statement about Toyota’s future.
The place runs 24/7 and has around 2,500 workers, which is expected to grow to more than 5,000 in the coming months.
