Word on the street is that the new Sony-Honda EV could have a PS5 console built in.

Just imagine being able to play Gran Turismo 7 from the comfort of your car.

Now that’s something Tesla could only read about.

These aren’t just rumors either.

Izumi Kawanishi, the president of Sony Honda Mobility, is quoted as saying, “Sony has content, services and entertainment technologies that move people”.

“We are adapting these assets to mobility, and this is our strength against Tesla,” he told the Financial Times.

Definitely sounds like fighting talk.

If that wasn’t cool enough, Sony’s music and movies could also feature in its future EV.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will have heard about Sony Honda Mobility.

In case you haven’t, it’s a joint electric vehicle venture between electronics brand Sony and car manufacturer Honda.

Sony-Honda aren’t just working towards producing an entertainment-focused electric car, though.

The joint venture is concentrating on perfecting a fully self-driving car, too.

“To enjoy the space in your car, you have to make it a space where you don’t need to drive,” said Kawanishi.

“The solution for this is autonomous driving.”

Sony-Honda EV release

Unfortunately, playing Gran Turismo 7 on your daily commute is still years away.

Sony-Honda plans to make the first North American deliveries of the yet-to-be-named vehicle in early 2026.

Although we don’t know its name or what it will even look like, Sony’s been teasing it since 2020 when it revealed its Vision S 01 concept and the SUV 02 version at CES 2022.

Sony Honda Mobility now claims its first car will be unveiled in Las Vegas on 4th January 2023 ahead of the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) on the 5th January.
