A $28 million Rolls-Royce Boat Tail has been spotted in Dubai

One of just three ever made, the Boat Tail was filmed driving towards Dubai’s man-made Palm Jumeirah this week.

The bespoke vehicle, which is inspired by nautical design, is believed to be the most expensive new car of all time.

The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail is unlike any luxury car that’s come before it.

One of just three commissioned, the custom-built car has an elongated silouette and a detachable carbon-fiber roof that allows it to go from coupe to convertible.

Rolls-Royce has not revealed who owns any of the three Boat Tails, but there has been speculation the blue one seen in Dubai belonged to Jay-Z.

The rumor was born from reports the owner was American and was in the music business.

The rumor was further fueled by photos that showed the champagne cooler filled with bottles of Armand de Brignac – which is partially owned by Jay-Z.

In the video, which was shot by Supercar Blondie’s Sergi Galiano, a blonde woman can be seen behind the wheel of the car.

Could it be Beyonce? Possibly. But if it were, she would likely have had one or two security vehicles in tow.

The British marque says each of the three vehicles was custom-built for its owner, “reflecting their own history, tastes, and sensibilities”.

The Boat Tail spotted in Dubai this week is described by the brand as oceanic blue infused with shimmering crystals.

Rolls-Royce says the color was created to be subtle in shadow but vibrant in the light.

And of course, there’s nothing normal about the paintwork as Rolls-Royce achieved the smooth edges by “delicately running a finger over the definitive body line before the paint set”.

Picnic basket

The coachbuilt cruiser has an inbuilt picnic basket underneath the nautically-styled wood panels at the back.

It’s no average picnic basket either, it comes with a champagne fridge, branded champagne flutes, cutlery, and even an umbrella and chairs.

Rolls-Royce Boat Tail power

The 19-foot long vehicle is powered by Rolls-Royce’s signature 6.75-liter V12.

Despite weighing 2,100 kg, it can reach 62 mph (100km/h) in just five seconds.

It also has a top speed of 250km/h (155mph).
