The world's longest car has been restored - all 100 ft of it

The world’s longest car has officially been restored and is now ready to hit the road, all 100.1 feet (30.54 metres) of it.

Jay Ohrberg, a tuning car expert and a bit of a madman, originally built the car in 1986 in California using a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado as a starting point, but back then it ‘only’ measured 18.28 metres (60 feet).

The problem is running the world’s longest car, and keeping it in a good shape, isn’t easy.

Michael Manning, the man who restored the car and transformed it into the crazy limo you see today, said the car was basically falling apart when he found it at a car show in New Jersey.

“It was garbage. It was covered in graffiti, the windows were broken, but I fell in love with it anyway,” Manning said.

It took him around seven years to secure funding for the project and 2.5 years to fully restore it, mainly because nearly everything had to be custom made.

He used six Cadillac ElDorados for a grand total of 26 wheels (!) but he still had to build the middle section from scratch.

Mind you, it was worth it because ‘The American Dream’, that’s the car’s nickname, is now road-ready.

Not only can you drive it from both ends, it features a diving board, a jacuzzi, a bathtub, a waterbed and it can fit 75 people.

The car is now at the Dezerland Park Car Museum in Orlando, Florida so everyone can enjoy The American Dream.

The Guinness Book of World Records declared it the world’s longest car on March 1, 2022.
