By 1983, the Corvette had proven to be extraordinarily successful for Chevrolet.
In fact, it was already emerging as America’s premier sports car offering.
The C4 Corvette represented a massive shift from previous generations of Corvette.
And the biggest indicator of that change came with the design.
1983 saw the introduction of the first Corvette not designed by Zora Arkus-Duntov.

Instead of the traditional curves and sloping corners, the C4 Corvette was extremely different.
It was a much narrower, sleeker design that was clearly influenced by aerodynamics.
And one man has uncovered the very first C4 Corvette that was ever built.
The YouTube channel, WD Detailing, recently headed to a garage.
When they spoke to the owner, the owner’s brother offered a fascinating insight.
He explained that, in order to buy the Vin No. 1 Corvette, he took out a second mortgage.
Like most men in his position, the owner told his wife it would be a good investment.
And, to his credit, he might not be wrong in his thinking.
Classic cars from a bygone era, especially the 1980s, are growing in value.

Owning an iconic sports car like the Corvette only helps it in that aim.
And the fact that this is the very first C4 Corvette ever made makes it a true one-of-one car.
Despite being over 40 years old, the C4 Corvette is in extremely good condition.
The red leather interior, in fact, looks almost brand new.
Having only done 277 miles, this C4 Corvette would be sure to fetch a pretty penny.
