Steve McQueen is one of the most iconic actors in the history of cinema.

“The King of Cool” was known for his intense love of all things two-and-four wheels.

Despite sadly passing in 1980, McQueen recently inspired a stunning Ford F100.

And it pays tribute to his iconic Ford Mustang from “Bullitt.”

For most movie fans, Steve McQueen remains an icon of a truly golden age.

Born in Indiana in 1930, McQueen suffered a very turbulent childhood.

McQueen was a known car and motorcycle fanatic, collecting several of both over the course of his life.

After being honourably discharged from the U.S. Marines in 1950, McQueen turned to acting.

Steve McQueen’s breakout role would come in a cowboy western television series.

“Wanted Dead or Alive” would make McQueen a household name in America.

It would also lead him to star in one of the most iconic films ever made.

John Sturges would cast McQueen in “The Magnificent Seven” alongside Yul Brynner, Robert Vaughn, Charles Bronson, James Coburn and Eli Wallach.

McQueen’s iconic portrayal of Vin Tanner led Sturges to cast him in an even bigger film three years later.

“The Great Escape” offers a portrayal of the Allied POW escape from Stalag Luft III, a German POW camp.

And McQueen stole the show, playing the iconic role of Captain Virgil Hiltz, known as “The Cooler King”.

His repeated stints in the solitary confinement cell, accompanied by his baseball and glove, made him a global superstar.

1968 was, perhaps, McQueen’s single biggest year – as it produced two of his best films.

“Bullitt” saw McQueen play Frank Bullitt, a San Francisco detective.

The film produced one of the most famous car scenes in the history of cinema.

In the video above, you can see McQueen take his iconic, dark green Ford Mustang over the hills of San Francisco.

And it is that iconic, legendary Mustang that inspires today’s story.

The guys over at Fat Fender Garage recently built an absolutely stunning, custom Ford F100.

And this incredible, slammed pick-up truck takes direct inspiration from McQueen and his Mustang.

The first (and most obvious) inspiration for this $800,000 truck is the color.

This deep, dark green paint job is directly inspired by the legendary car.

Powering this custom tribute on wheels is a twin-turbo, Coyote V8 engine.

The slammed nature of the truck comes courtesy of a custom air suspension setup.

And it very much adds to the mean, gritty aesthetic of the entire build.

The interior is shockingly 21st century, as it has been donated from a 2018 Ford Mustang GT.

That means a lovely white interior with bucket seats – as well as a gear shifter from a modern F-150.

This Ford F100 build is a truly original, unique tribute to one of Hollywood’s greatest.

The “King of Cool” would certainly find this a worthy tribute.
