This Bizarre pedal-less bicycle doesn’t have a seat or chains and looks like something out of the Flintstones.

Called the Fliz, it’s the brainchild of a couple of ambitious German designers.

And their goal was to create a more comfortable way of getting around.

The Fliz was actually inspired by the original Laufmaschine invented by Karl Freiherr von Drais in 1818.

While it doesn’t have a seat, gears, chains, or pedals, its designers say it’s far more practical than the bike you have in your garage today.

Why?

Well, they say that the laminated frame and five-point belt make for a much more ergonomic and comfortable ride.

So, rather than sitting, the rider hangs from the harness system while on the move.

The Fliz wasn’t named after the car from the Flintstones, but after the German word for Flitzen, which means to whip or to dash.

But that whipping or dashing movement all depends on the rider.

Yep, all the motion is created by the rider’s own footsteps.

So, what’s the point then?

Well, unlike walking or running, the wheels on the Fliz allow you to go a lot faster and a lot further with a lot less effort.

Plus, it looks super cool, right?

We’ll leave that judgment to you.

The designers of the pedal-less bicycle say it wasn’t created to take over the regular bike but to offer an alternative.

Especially for people navigating busy, urban areas with a lot of foot traffic.

The Fliz isn’t the only weird and wonderful recreation of the bike.

Popular YouTuber The Q just created a bike with no wheels at all

Instead of wheels, the bike has tank tracks mounted at absurd angles.

It follows his latest creation – the bicycle with square wheels

His inventions sound as if they couldn’t work, but they do, and they work incredibly well, too.
