The Ford Shelby GT350 nameplate is an extremely special and important one.
It was first introduced in 1965 and personally tuned by the legendary Carroll Shelby.
Interestingly, the Ford Shelby GT350 still packs more power than the Dark Horse Mustang.
And it turns out that you can now pick one up cheaper as well.

Ford Shelby GT350 does the name justice
The Ford Shelby GT350 car was revived back to life in 2015 – and it was worth the wait.
It came with a brand-new, 5.2-litre engine – nicknamed ‘the Voodoo engine’.
This high-revving V8 beast of a powerplant produced 526hp at 7,500rpm.
In case you’re wondering why that’s important – well, this is why.
That Voodoo V8 is the most powerful naturally aspirated, production Ford engine ever.

And for Ford fans everywhere, the news just kept on getting better.
Because this mammoth Voodoo V8 was paired with a six-speed, manual transmission.
Despite being replaced by the Dark Horse Mustang in 2022, the Ford Shelby GT350 endures.
It remains more powerful than its Dark Horse replacement – 526hp vs 500hp.
And now, it’s somehow even cheaper as well.
The price is the most amazing difference
Of all of the figures between the two cars, it’s the price that is the most surprising.
It should be noted that prices for the GT350 have stayed very competitive.
That means that there aren’t enormous discounts from the original recommended ticket price.
Regardless, a 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 can be bought for around the $55,000 mark.
Prices shoot up to around the $70,000 range for the final year, so keep that in mind.
By comparison, a brand-new, 2025 Dark Horse Mustang will cost around $64,000.

Surprisingly, very good used examples are actually more expensive, sitting at around the $72,000 mark.
The figures make for very interesting reading and consideration.
On the one hand, the Voodoo V8 is pretty accessible for the power and numbers.
But on the other hand, you could get a brand-new Dark Horse Mustang for a little more.
In the end, both cars are very good deals for the average prices in question.
It simply depends on whether you need that new car smell or not.
