Koenigsegg CC850

This is the Koenigsegg CC850, a reimagined homage to the record-shattering CC8S.

The hypercar will be unveiled in Monterey today to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first production Koenigsegg.

And only 50 examples will be made in celebration of the company’s namesake, Christian von Koenigsegg’s 50th birthday.

The CC850 is powered by a twin-turbo 5.0 liter V8 which is capable of churning out an eye-watering 1382 hp.

The exterior of the car wears a sleek Nordic Koenigsegg design, with telephone-dial style rims, and triple taillights.

Meanwhile inside, the minimal design aesthetic screams luxury.

It has a round steering wheel, open-gate shifter with exposed mechanical components and an analogue chrono cluster.

The car also features the iconic detachable hardtop, and can be run on renewable fuels.

It has been fitted with a revolutionary engage shift system which functions as both a gated six-speed manual with a clutch pedal and as a nine-speed automatic.

The brand said the ability for the driver to choose between an unadulterated manual transmission or more laid-back automatic shifting was unprecedented and places the CC850 “in a class by itself”.

Christian von Koenigsegg described the CC850 as an homage to “the single most meaningful car in Koenigsegg history”.

“The CC8S put us on the map and made us successful,” he said.

“And celebrating 20 years of production, alongside my 50th birthday felt like the right time to reveal the CC850 to appreciate our roots.”

While visually the new release takes inspiration from the CC8S, the drivetrain, engine, and capabilities of the CC850 are completely new.

The CC850’s 5.0 liter twin-turbo V8 was engineered and built in house.

It will deliver 1,185hp on gas or 1,385hp on E85.

The CC850 will also achieve a one-to-one power-to-weight ratio.

The car will be officially unveiled at Pebble Beach in California on Saturday August 19.
