F1 driver, Lando Norris, has completed a Silverstone lap in a life-sized McLaren P1 made out of Lego blocks -yes, really.
There’s a lot to unpack here.
Not only did the creative minds at Lego build a 1:1 replica of the P1, but they also got Norris to drive it.
It’s safe to say that this was a one-of-a-kind lap, even for a driver as experienced as him.

McLaren P1 made out of Lego
Lego unveiled the pixelated McLaren P1 yesterday, and the unveiling came with some pretty interesting details.
For starters, this McLaren P1 was made out of more than 300,000 pieces.
342,817 pieces, to be precise.
It took a team of 23 designers, engineers, and other specialists to create this work of art.
Lego builds have a reputation for taking a long time to complete, and this was no exception.
The team spent 8,344 hours building this life-sized supercar, and it seemed well worth it.
Moreover, it featured an actual steering wheel and an electric drivetrain, which made driving it possible.
Lando Norris got behind the wheel to test this out at the Silverstone circuit spanning 3.66 miles (about 6km).
He owns a sizeable car collection but actually hates driving on the road.
On the track, however, things are different.

After he completed the Silverstone lap, the F1 driver was asked what it felt like.
“It felt like a car. The steering, I thought, was pretty good,” he said.
From the video of him talking about the experience, it looked like he enjoyed himself.
Although he was nervous about it at first, Lando Norris was quite satisfied with how things turned out.
It wasn’t just him, either.
“It’s amazing to see so many of the elements from the original McLaren P1 brought to life so realistically by the LEGO Technic team for the full-scale model,” Ben Gulliver, McLaren’s Test & Development Director, said.
We’ve seen our fair share of P1 customizations and odd Lego builds, but this one might just outshine them all.
After all, they got the racing team’s star driver to test it out.
