This camera-less iPhone has left people in disbelief, wondering how Apple released this phone and why you’d need one without the perfect lenses.
Apple has poured endless resources into making its iPhone cameras just as good – if not better – than your typical professional lens.
But, in a bid to monopolize every niche in the tech market, Apple reportedly once made a very special camera-less iPhone.
This relic mobile has been shared on social media, and the reason for its lack of lenses is more than ‘mildly interesting’

Camera-less iPhone has a mysterious past
Phone cameras have improved so much in the last few years that you can now get attachments that capture your best angles – an Instagram dream.
Apple specifically has been making massive strides, with its latest optical devices being almost as good as the naked eye.
However, one Redditor has revealed a camera-less iPhone which defies belief.
Taking to the ‘mildlyinteresting’ subreddit, the user revealed an early iPhone that had its camera removed.
The reason: his buddy works in a power plant and they are not allowed to carry cameras inside.
But that begs the question, where on earth can you buy one of these?

Well, it’s reportedly not an Apple feature, but rather a third-party modification.
“Apple themselves don’t make these phones, they’re produced by 3rd-party companies which buy from Apple and remove the cameras and sell them to government agencies,” one comment read.
Another person echoed this, saying Apple doesn’t commission them, but there are other hacks to keep you from opening the camera app.
“There is no way to buy an iPhone that has no camera,” they said.
“You could disable the Camera app from the iPhone in Restrictions where you can disable features like Camera, FaceTime, Safari (Internet), etc, e.g., if you have a child.
These gadgets are allegedly common for power plant staff, as using the camera is strictly forbidden.
“Even if you accidentally open your camera app, it can get you in trouble, and it’s not something they’re going to let you do more than once without repercussions,” another person commented, after consulting a family member who works in one.
An Apple a day keeps the camera away
Nowadays, Apple would likely be aghast at seeing its best feature scrubbed off.
The latest iPhone 17 was marketed with a mass improvement in the camera department, with its signarure optical image stabilization (OIS) system still images and videos a dream to capture.
Side-by-side photos show just how far the brand has come since the first-ever iPhone that launched in 2007.

Now, if an iPhone came without a camera, you’d be left distraught. But where security needs to be at its tightest, you can understand the appeal.
