In the 10 years that Friends was on the air, there were a surprising amount of cool cars on the show.
We say surprising because the adventures of Ross, Rachel, Joey, Chandler, Monica, and Phoebe were filmed inside a studio – not the natural dwelling for a street car.
Despite this, some sweet rides made their way onto the popular sitcom.
Here are five of the best.

I’ll be there for you….in one of these five cars from Friends
Friends ran from 1994 to 2004, and made its six central cast members extremely rich and extremely famous.
When you’re getting $1 million per episode, it lends itself nicely to a lavish lifestyle.
Those big paychecks allowed them to buy some flash cars in real life too.
For Courteney Cox, who played Monica Geller, she opted for a Porsche 911 with her first paycheck.
Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel Green, wasn’t quite so lucky as she landed herself with a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 that quickly broke.
But within the 236 episodes of Friends, which cars did their characters get to enjoy?
These are the top five, ranked in no particular order.
Phoebe’s yellow cab
You couldn’t have a show set in New York City without a yellow cab, could you?
This cab was primarily owned by Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), but it originally belonged to her grandmother.
Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) referred to it as the ‘Death Cab’ thanks to Phoebe’s erratic driving.

What this car lacked in safety features (no seatbelts), it made up for in other ways.
At least it didn’t have mice chewing on its insides, like this Ferrari 355 GTS.
In Season Five, Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) took it on a cross-country drive to Las Vegas, so it couldn’t have been in too bad a state.
It played a pivotal role in various scenes throughout the show, primarily in transporting Ross to the airport so he could tell Rachel he still loved her in the show’s final episode.
The model of this car is never stated on the show, but sources online say its a 1977 Checker Taxi A11.
Joey’s Porsche 911 – The One with Joey’s Porsche (Season 6, Episode 5)
Joey never owned this stunning Porsche 911, but who needed to know?
When he found this car parked on the street, he initially wanted to leave a note.

But when people passing on the street assumed it was his and complimented him, he decided to roll with it.
Unfortunately, the car’s real owner wasn’t all too pleased when he came back to find Joey wiping it down.
It was probably for the best – Joey couldn’t pronounce Porsche properly anyhow.
He probably would have really annoyed renowned Porsche fanatic Jerry Seinfeld.
Monica’s Porsche 911 – The One With Chandler’s Dad (Season 7, Episode 22)
Speaking of Porsches, Monica landed herself one in The One Where Rosita Dies.
The car originally belonged to her dad, who gave it to her as a way of apology.
Monica had been left devastated when all her childhood items were damaged in a garage flood.
Getting the Porsche put a smile on her face again.
Her friends often borrowed the car, although Rachel did so without Monica’s permission in The One With Chandler’s Dad.

She also borrowed the Porsche in The One with the Cake, as she needed to drive to New Jersey to pick up a cake for her daughter’s birthday.
Not that Monica had much choice in the matter, as Rachel reportedly pulled on her hair until she dropped the keys.
Ross’s MGB – The One Where They All Turn Thirty (Season 7, Episode 14)
When Ross turned 30 in Season 7, he wanted to celebrate the milestone birthday in style – with a red MGB Roadster.
Ross evidently wasn’t much of a car guy, as he responded, “look, how shiny!” when asked about the car’s horsepower.

Unfortunately, the car didn’t get much use, as it was tightly wedged in between two other cars.
Once it was finally free to drive, Ross hopped inside – only for another MGB driver to pull up alongside him.
The middle aged man driving it remarked: “How hot are we?!”
This was enough to put Ross off his impulse purchase, and we can assume the car was sold after this point.
Some people can pull off a red sports car – like Christie Brinkley – and some people just can’t.
Phoebe and Monica’s van – The One Where They’re Going To Party! (Season 4, Episode 9)
This van only appeared in one scene, but it sure was memorable.
You would remember a van that had a woman riding a dragon on the side of it, wouldn’t you?
Monica and Phoebe purchased the van when they looking to start up a catering business together.

The van obviously needed a makeover, as a woman riding a dragon doesn’t quite scream ‘Catering’.
And there was a lighting issue with the van which…wasn’t appropriate.
You might want to rewatch the episode for yourself on that point.
