The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL is up there with the most iconic sports cars of all time.

Perhaps best known for its gullwing doors, it was actually the fastest production car of its day.

Even today, the 300 SL is considered the ultimate dream car.

The guys over at I AM Detailing have been lucky enough to do a restoration detailing on one.

And thankfully for us, they documented the entire process on their YouTube channel.

The paint has patina and the interior is original, so the detailers were tasked with making her look as good as possible, regardless of her mileage.

First step was dry ice cleaning its undercarriage.

Their attention then turned to the wheel wells and engine bay, before applying a new protective coating to help it last another 100 years.

The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was then taken over to the main shop for a deep interior detailing.

This involved scrubbing and restoring every inch of the entirely original interior.

Afterwards, they got to work on bringing the paint back to life, and polishing the various chrome and plastic pieces on the car.

Once the restoration detailing was complete, the car headed over to the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center for a complete service and inspection.

This was a hugely important step, ensuring that the 300 SL remains in tip-top shape for years to come.

The 300 SL Roadtser’s original hard top, tool roll, and comprehensive history file add to its rarity and make it a valuable collector’s item.

Just for perspective, a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL recently sold at auction for a staggering $1,820,000.

So, if this one was to go up for auction it’d fetch a hefty amount, too.

The video is definitely worth a watch – check it out here.
